Short biograhpy

Konrad Wenzel serves as the Director of the Esri R&D Center in Stuttgart, Germany. In this role, he oversees research and development efforts focused on highly accurate Reality Capture and Photogrammetry software. The technology developed by his teams allows for the conversion of imagery and LiDAR data into 3D data products that can be used in GIS and Digital Twins. This technology enables automated data production on a large scale, utilizing drones, crewed aircraft, and satellites for a wide range of applications including countrywide data production for National Mapping agencies.

Konrad's educational background is in Geodesy and Geoinformatics, and he earned his PhD in Photogrammetry from the University of Stuttgart in 2016. In 2013, he co-founded nFrames, a company that was later acquired by Esri in 2020. Konrad is deeply passionate about harnessing the power of Reality Capture and GIS for Digital Twins to facilitate well-informed decision-making processes.
