Antero Kukko

Antero Kukko (D.Sc. (Tech) in Photogrammetry 2013, Aalto University, Finland) is a Research professor and leads Autonomous Mapping and Driving research group at the Department of Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry at Finnish Geospatial Research Institute FGI of National Land survey of Finland. He also has an adjunct professor position at the Department of Built Environment, Aalto University, Finland, where he lectures basics and advanced laser scanning. His background and experience stem from the research and development of mobile laser scanning systems and methods, a field where he is a pioneer. His research interests include development and use of mobile and airborne multi-spectral laser scanning systems, autonomous perception for forest machines and autonomous driving, ultra-dense point clouds, performance of integrated and automated mapping systems, digitalization and automated real-time processing of 3D data using machine and deep learning in applications in diverse fields of geomatics from impact cratering and fluvial processes to precision forestry, built environment, infrastructure and natural sciences.
