Geodata on the Web workshop
Web location framework, unsolved issues and contributions from new technologies
10 – 11 February 2016 (Amersfoort – Amsterdam, The Nederlands)
Organizers : Erwin Folmer (Dutch Kadaster), Nathalie F. Abadie (IGN), Bénédicte Bucher (IGN)
In the last two decades, location data has undergone many evolutions, due to, among other reasons, the development of the Web. Many initiatives, related to the theme of Spatial data on the Web, currently are underway. This event will discuss the latest state-of-the-art, from both a GIS perspective and that of the Web world. The organizers will bring together the Linked Data and GIS communities for a fruitful discussion of current and future steps to be taken. It is organised in two phases. Day 1 will aim at achieving a common ground of knowledge (issues and actors) between participants through several presentations: the latest development and communities road maps in the domain of geodata on the web by specialists from Geographical information sciences and from Web technology, and feed backs from actors who adopted Linked data technology in their organization. Day 2 will aim at focusing on what are the unsolved issues and how to make contributions to the field through more interactive sessions: drafting of a collective paper, presentations of specific tool and design of applied data challenges based on encountered specific issues and data that illustrate them.
