Taking place in Delft, NL, on 13 June 2023, the overall objective of the workshop is to better understand how GI Science can enhance City and National DT and to identify and start to address associated scientific challenges. The workshop will consist of a mixture of short talks around this theme and a break out session to allow for more in-depth discussion relating to specific aspects of the topic that have already been identified as key challenges, such as engineering the two way digital-physical connection for a DT and more.

This workshop has been cancelled. National Innovation Centre for Data, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK Monday 5th - Tuesday 6th June 2023 A desirable development in any form of airborne surveying is the freeing of processing pipelines from the need for supporting terrestrial information in terms of ground control and/or local Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) base stations. Opinions vary as to what extent this is feasible for high quality geometric survey, but it is clear that its ultimate achievement would bring significant time and cost benefits to industry and National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs). The EuroSDR (see http://www.eurosdr.net/) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) benchmark ran throughout 2022 with the aim of evaluating the true geometric quality of real-world survey data generated from RPAS survey in the absence of ground control and GNSS base stations (see the project website at https://geospatialncl.github.io/eurosdr-rpas-benchmark/ for further details).

The fifth workshop on earth observation and monitoring with Sentinel images is again co-organized by EuroSDR and different partners from Spain, Norway, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. It is due to take place on 31 May - 1 June 2023. Please register before May 21st.

The adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) in Europe could bring benefits such as personalised services for citizens, fewer repetitive tasks for staff members (liberating time for more tasks that have more value as listening, creating, improving services, …), detect harmful content, support decision-making processes where a high number of data and variables are involved, which is more and more frequent when societal challenges are involved.
